I just ordered some SwitchLinc model #2380 2-way switches, a SwitchLinc model #2382 2-way multi-way companion switch for a 3-way switch circuit and a SwitchLinc model # 12074 KeypadLinc 8 with Integrated Dimmer from SmartHome.com.

I plan on using these switches in a 4-gang box that currently has three different light circuits in three of the spaces, and the fourth has a split fan light/fan speed switch. One of the light circuits is wired in a three-way circuit. I plan on using two of the 2380s and the KeypadLinc 8 to replace the current three different light circuits. (Does this make sense?)

I also plan on using the SwitchLinc model #2382 2-way multi-way companion switch and another 2380 switch in a separate 2-gang box. The 2382 to complete the 3-way circuit and the other 2380 to control an outdoor light.

While looking at the SmartHome.com web page and wiring diagram for these switches, I noticed that I need a Neutral in the 4-gang box and in the 2-gang box. The problem is that I remodeled this home about three years ago and I don

If you remodeled and you got an electric permit then most likely you have a neutral in the box. Its been a VERY long time since Neutral wires were not required. How old is your home?

The house is old, but the remodel is three years old, and there is not a neutral in the switch boxes. They are switch legs from the load (black wire) side only. And yes it was done with a permit.

At least I now know this when I start the new home, but I guess I need to get this one figured out.

I would recommend asking this question to the place you purchased the switches from. They probably do more trouble shooting for hardware on their end.

You could also ask Smarthome's tech support.

Thanks Greg, but I ran a neutral to each box.

I received my switches today and should be able to install them sometime this week and hopefully get HAL up and running this weekend.

Is there anyone to register the HAL on weekends or do I need to get it registered by Friday?

Eric.

SOunds like Eric fixed his problem but for others, if you don't have a neutral wire, you'll need to use the SwitchLinc RX switches instead of the standard SwitchLincs. 2 issues with that - 1) no 2-way communication, 2) no non-dimmable switches.
