Hi,
As HAL introduced Z-Wave \"support\" I bought a batch of Z-WAVE gear to replace a lot of my X-10 kit, and the HomePro RF USB Interface (ZCU010).
Unfortunately HAL 3.0.0 crashes every time I try to access the device. I also have not been able to find the driver for it (Win XP Pro).
The Z-WAVE stuff works great standalone (the modules are much quieter as well!) but it's no good if it only works with Homeseer and not with HAL.
If any user has the USB driver and/or managed to get HAL to work with Z-Wave, I'd really appreciate an e-mail - or a post here! :)
Thanks in advance,
S.

I just purchased HAL 3.0.9. I want to use Z-Wave for all my devices. I will not be building until some time next year. I am just setting up where I live now to learn the program. I would rather learn only Z-Wave devices if possible. So as you get things up and running, keep me informed.
Which devices would you suggest I start with? I will not hold you responsible for you help. :D

Hello Bobby,
Welcome to the wonderful world of HAL.
There are currently a couple small tweaks needed for HAL to fully support Z-wave in Version 3.09. Hopefully all of the issues/caveats will be ironed out in the next version released.
The zwave devices are much faster and far more reliable the x10. But that same thing can be said about UPB.
UPB switches offer great flexability and give wider proggramming control then there zwave counterparts. UPB is also 100% 2-way, where as zwave switches need to be polled for current status. Zwave is a little less expensive but for the cost difference I truly believe upb is a better option. Also the upb is curenttly fully supported by hal with no caveats (to my knowledge) and the switches have some great looks and capabilities.
Mahalo and good automating,
Shawn

I'd ask for you to wait till we release of next build in the next couple of weeks before going trying to integrate HAL with Zwave.
Once you do, contact me for the drivers you will need to set up the HomePro USB Zwave interface HAL uses and device set up information.
