Change the X10 Chime sound?

Anyone tried or have any success in changing the sound of a standard X10 chime plug in? I like the idea of a portable chime not run through a pc but I was disapointed with the sound on the X10 module. The chime would be worth its weight in gold if we could download our favorite chimes or sounds from the net directly to the plug in module! Of course in a perfect world we wouldn't have any fun if we didn't have to pull it apart and modify it.

Hi Chad,

You know, that sounds like a great idea. I use chimes in each of the kid's rooms to call them. It would be nice to have different sounds for each of them. I'll talk to my electrician and see what he can come up with.

Definitely let me know if he comes up with something. I'm sure it would be of interest to many other users as well. By the way, I like the Outlet site. The prices are hard to beat. You guys keep up the good work over there!

He's going to take a look at it this weekend. I wouldn't think it would be too hard to do. I would assume that he would just need to find some components with a different sound and solder them in. I'll let you know.

He looked at it this morning. He thinks he can do it but we won't know until buys the parts and tries it.
