Can anyone recommend a no-frills, command line driven utility that'll let Hal drive a FireCracker remote?

I've got a temporary need (i.e., not justifying rewiring or buying new boosters or equipment) for one-way control of a couple of units on a far-flung circuit. They work fine with a minicontroller or a FireCracker + TM-751, but the wimpy CM11a signal just doesn't reach. Can't Hal just send the signal, using an external app, via the CM17a?

If memory serves, the firecracker has a utility for sending commands via a commandline utility. At least I remember long ago sending firecracker commands from my old DOS based 286 machine.

If so, and it will work on your system, just write a little perl script to send the command you want and have HAL call the script. Should be a piece of cake! Heck, I'd bet you could even do it with a DOS batch file called from HAL.

I haven't tried a firecracker in years tho... Perhaps I'm all wet. But I think it would work.

Cheers,
Nathan

I am using both HAL and firecracker on my computer and I have had no problems at all, I did this about a month ago or so. I like useing the plam pad instead of the phone to control the lights when I come home late at night, that way I don't wake the wife and kiks.
