Default Need some help with this

Every day I open up our mobile home to keep fresh air circulating as it gets so hot.
I seem to forget to close it back up at night some times.
Can I have Hal by using a Eagle Eye let me know that I have opened the door and then tell me at night that it needs shut. But if I do not open the door it will keep quiet. I suppose you would have to use flags.

a motion is the wrong way to go. You want a contact on on the door. If you go with Insteon they have a device designed to do exactly that.

For X10 you can use:

The insteon one is wireless so you would need a compatible insteon reciever. but it is much more convienient.

UPB has one as well:

UMI-32

I used it to tell me if my garage door is left open. I also use it to know when someone comes home (garage door opens, then door to garage opens and between sunset and sunrise)... it will turn on the lights for 30 seconds so you don't come home to a dark house. 30 seconds gives time to turn on a different light.

if you need any help setting up when decide the route to go... let us know! good luck

you could install a fan that would suck outside air in and put that on a timer or have hal control it. is it a moble home or a camper. either way. that way even if your not home it would still keep it cool.

Thanks for all the help, I thought the motion detector would be a cheap way out as I did not want to do any wiring. But guess a fan drawing hot air out with a x-10 module will work.

I am in process of moving from x10 to INSTEON, do I need a separate program to set up addresses for devices?

nope, every device comes with a 6 charactor address. You just put that in to HAL and tell HAL to learn the device. Thats it!
