I'm going to call Worthington Distubution this week and see if they are selling the Z-Wave Kwickset locks yet. It will be necessary to have a Z-wave controller that supports the security protocol. I think Worthingting will be selling a new RS-232 Z-wave interface that will work with the lock. If they do and provide the protocol I may write a HALi interface.

I called and verified that worthington distrubution is now selling the Z-wave kwickset door locks. However they are only working with the Mi Casa Verde home controller.

I'm hoping that the HAL developers can work with the kwickset team and get this integrated quickly. I think the tech support group at worthing has the protocol documents. I hope they can simply interface to the device with one of the newer USB sticks that support the new Z-wave security profile interface.

The USB stick has to have the latest Zensys v5.02 library like this one...

In fact this is the stick that the other home automation companies use to control the locks.

Wink Re: Z-Wave

Jim,

I installed one of the morninglinc deadbolts on my front door, I set it up in HAL as an Insteon Device using (I think it was the same used for the Insteon motion sensors - rflink v2) - I am able to issue a "LOCK" command to the front door, and the deadbolt locks, but cannot seem to initiate an "UNLOCK" command from HAL2000. And yep you are right, no feedback from the morninglinc what state the lock is currently in - bummer!

But my wife loves the little hand-held remotes, especially on those rainy days where she doesn't have to "fish" for her keys holding groceries, as the rain pounds down on her - she just pushes the button, and the deadbolt unlocks - works great so far, but wish some feedback to HAL was possible with the morninglinc so it knew what state the lock was in (locked, unlocked).

Oh well, can't have everything... at least not yet...
