Default Radio HAL 2.10

Hello all! At long last I am releasing a new version of my HALi program, Radio HAL. This program allows HAL to simulate a radio station. Text to Speech provides the voice of the DJ and HAL's Digital Music Center provides the music. The program has a number of other features such as keeping track of the weather and allowing one to seach for and play any song from their All Songs list.

Information on Radio HAL and free Beta download are available at my web link below.

Awesome!!!!!! I have been waiting on the version that can work with HAL version 4. Radio HAL has been greatly missed in my family's morning routine. I use it to play music and make announcements about reminders and weather. I hope to add traffic to the TTS announcements soon.

Great Job, Cynthia!

Hi Cynthia,

I just upgraded to Hal2000 ver 4.0.43, the latest release and I guess some stuff in Hali changed... and well, RadioHal.exe crashes out now.

We use your little app all the time for our mp3's. We even have an "On The Air" light from an old radio station that lights up when it's playing. Great fun.

Anyway, maybe you could update your app to work with the latest Hali changes?

If not, we understand. ...and if so, no rush.

Peace,

Wirenut

The reason HALi was intermittently breaking binary compatibility has been found. Starting with HALi 4.0.0.4 binary comaptibility should remain stable.

If breaking compatibility is required in the future it will be announced durring the beta.

Been trying to produce an updated Radio HAL for the 4.0.43 version of HAL. It is still giving runtime errors after I updated the HALi.ocx file and producing a new executable. Do I have the correct HALi.ocx? Mine is dated 2-3-2009.

The date doesn't mean too much. Is it version 4.0.0.4? If it is try running the following commands from a CMD window in the HAL folder.

regsvr32 /u HALi.ocx
regsvr32 HALi.ocx

If you still have problems delete all the files in the HAL folder (leave sub folders alone) and then run a custom install. Choose everything but databases.

I thought that had done it, as the first time I ran my program I did not see an error. Subsequent runs are still producing an error. Will look at this more tomorrow.

Cynthia,

I was getting strange HALi related errors on my system after I recently rebuilt it, somehow it had gained a block of duff device entries part way through the list.

Deleting these got everything working again - possibly worth a check for duplicate or dodgy device or macro / rule entries on your system?

Everything other than HALi apps was still working fine.

I see no device entries out of place. I do see a problem in Visual Studio. The form layout will not display. It displays some xml and may display an error. Will have to see if I can restore a backup.
