Listed below are some of the error messages that you may receive when registering online. If you receive an error message that isn't listed, then call the HAL Authorization Desk for assistance. The phone number and hours of the HAL Authorization Desk are listed on the HAL Contacts
page.
"That Product Key is not valid for the product you selected."

You entered the wrong product key.
|
|
|
Double-check that you entered the correct number for the product key. The product key is not case-sensitive, but there is a difference between a zero ("0") and the letter "o" (or "O").

You selected the wrong HAL software from the "Product" drop-down menu.
|
|
|
Select the correct software from the drop-down
menu. There is a difference between "HALbasic"
and "HALbasic v2". Click

"That product has already been registered by another user."
|
|
That product key has already been registered to someone else.
|
|
|
If you were the person who previously registered this product key, then this error message would most likely appear if you are entered in this system twice, as two different users, and you originally registered the product as the other user. Use the username and password of
the other user or contact the Authorization Desk for assistance.
If this error message appears the first time you try to register the software, then contact the Authorization Desk for assistance.

"That product has already been registered on another computer. Please contact the Authorization Desk for assistance."

The computer number entered does not match the computer number that was used when the product was originally registered.
|
|
|
Double-check that you entered the computer number correctly.
If you entered the computer number correctly or the computer number that now appears in the HAL Registration screen isn't the same computer number that you originally used, then contact the Authorization Desk for
assistance.

"That product key is invalid because it has been unregistered."
|

This product was unregistered.
|

Double-check that you entered the product key correctly.
