Install
While Downloading
|
|
|
This option downloads a small
program (hal2000.exe). When this program
is activated, the system goes out to the Internet
and downloads the files for the HAL2000 program.
Only the files that are needed are downloaded.
|
|
|
- You must be connected to the Internet to
run the program.
- HAL2000 should not be running when this
program is running. (The program will
flash a warning if it finds HAL running.)
- If the connection to the Internet is broken
during the procedure, the program will automatically
ask if you would like to uninstall the partial
program. It is recommended that you
choose "yes" for this option.
The partial files will be uninstalled.
Reconnect to the Internet and re-run the downloaded
program (hal2000.exe)

Errors:
|
Normally, when the HAL2000.exe file is run,
the program automatically connects to the
Internet and starts downloading the files.
Some people may encounter a problem where
the system says that it can't connect to the
network server. This may happen if certain
online services, such as America Online (AOL),
are used for connecting to the Internet.
If this error occurs, start the online service,
such as AOL, then double-click on the HAL2000.exe
file; the download/installation process should
begin. Leave the online service running
until HAL is completely installed.

This option downloads the entire
HAL2000 program in pieces. This option
is recommended for those users who would like
to keep a full copy of the program on-hand
and don't wish to purchase an upgrade CD from
Technical Support.

Errors:
|
Some people may encounter an error during
installation where the program asks for Disc
2 or something similar. This error occurs
because Windows® renamed the files when they
were downloaded and the installation program
can't find the files it needs. To correct
this, go to the location on the computer where
the files were downloaded. If the file
names don't match the names listed above,
then right-click on the file name, select
the option "Rename", and change
the file names to match. Generally,
the files that are renamed are the ones with
the ".W02" to ".W05" extensions.
